Watch the Pineapple Drop in Sarasota 2014
Now that Christmas has come and gone, we’re getting ready for the next big bash: New Year’s Eve! If you’re in the Sarasota area, you won’t want to miss the festivities going on downtown on the 31st of December. This is a family-friendly event, so bring everyone alone and expect to have fun!
The streets of downtown Sarasota will be set up for dancing, and with two live bands plus DJs set up on four stages, you won’t be able to resist. The music starts at 8:00 pm with Doug Deming & the Jewel Tones playing at Mattison’s City Grill (on Lemon Avenue at First Street) and Gods and Generals playing at The Gator Club (Lemon Avenue and State Street). If you are on Main Street, you’ll be able to hear DJ Xtreme at Jalea, and DJs Kensi and Kiko at the Ivory Lounge.
The event is free, fun and geared towards everyone in the Sarasota area, whether you are a resident or just visiting. In addition to dancing, there will be food, full bars, children’s entertainment, rides and much more. The climax of the event will take place atmidnight, when Bob Harrigan will be on the main stage at Lemon Avenue and Main Street, counting down to 2014 during the famous (or infamous) Pineapple Drop!
If you are looking for something fun to do this New Year’s Eve, be sure not to miss the New Year’s Eve party in downtown Sarasota this year. You can walk over from Laurel Park or Gillespie Park, as Main, Lemon, First and State will be closed to car traffic. Remember to drink responsibly, and we wish you the best as we head into 2014. Happy New Year!
