Sarasota's own Ed Smith Stadium was all the range over the weekend as performers, vendors, craft enthusiasts and amateur artists drew huge crowds to the 22nd Annual Sarasota Blues and Music Festival. Headlining performers rocked the crowds. With a talent-packed lineup consisting of Pett Crow, Paul Thorn, Curtis Salgado, Royal Southern Brotherhood, Ana Popovic and Delbert McClinton, the audience dished on a delight of bluesy, soulful sounds. This year's Sarasota Blues and Music Festivalfollowed in its predecessor's path, which have given the stage over to such artistic legends as Gregg Allman and Friends, Buddy Guy, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Jimmy Vaughan, Booker T & the MGs, Jeff Healey, Little Feat and Los Lobos.
The Sarasota Blues and Music Festival HistoryEstablished in 1991 by the Sarasota Blues Society as a community celebration of the blues in the Sarasota community, this year's jubilee once again featured a stellar line-up of national artists. With exceptionally beautiful weather, plenty of sunshine and the backdrop of the Gulf of Mexico, the 22nd annual Sarasota Blues and Music Festivaldelivered on its promises music, food, hospitality and memories.
The Sarasota Blues and Music Festival Gives BackTicket sales not only helped to bring the best artistic talent to the Sarasota and Bradentonarea, a portion of those sales go directly to charity. With every ticket sold, donations go to the Florida Center for Child and Family Development, United Cerebral Palsy, Sailor Circus Capital Campaign, Police Athletic League, United Way, and All Faiths Food Bank. Each charity benefited from the festival's, making it not only a boom for the local economy, but driving much needed dollars to institutions which help in so many diverse causes.
Fun for the Whole FamilyAnd that's not all. This year's Sarasota Blues and Music Festival included a Family Fun Zone--catering specifically to families with children. The Family Fun Zone provided a wonderful array of games, activities and amusement for young children. This addition made the festival all that more inclusive and help to drive up attendance. The 2013 Sarasota Blues and Music Festival is slated to be held in the same location, Ed Smith Stadium, at the end of September. alt="sarasota_blues_festival_250" width="250" height="122" />
