Reasons Why Selling Your Florida Home in the Summer Makes the Most Sense

With most snowbirds enjoying the summer season up north, the months of May through September are generally considered the “off-season” here in Sarasota and Siesta Key. But even with the population dwindling during the summer, it’s actually still a great time to sell a home or condo.

According to data from MFRMLS, April, May, and June saw some of the highest home sales volumes over the last few years, and even July can often be unexpectedly busy. So whether you’ve already made the decision to sell or are just giving it some thought, here are a few reasons why testing the market during the summer season may not be such a bad idea.

FEWER PEOPLE MEANS LESS TRAFFIC

Finding the right home or condo takes time, effort, and usually a lot of driving between home showings. Buyers understand this, which is exactly why searching for that perfect place makes a whole lot of sense when the snowbirds are away and fewer cars on the road.

BUYERS OFTEN PLAN THEIR VACATION AROUND A HOME SEARCH

With so many vacation home buyers coming from out of town, many plan to do a little house hunting while they’re here on summer vacation. And in a lot of instances, the objective is to get a deal in place before they head back home.

LONGER DAYS = MORE SHOWING OPPORTUNITIES

Given we’re afforded more daylight during the summer months, buyers are more willing to stay out longer looking at homes on the market, increasing the probability they’ll find something sooner. As a seller, always be willing to let your Realtor show your home or condo later in the day or evening during the summer, even if it might feel a bit too late for your schedule.
